Like Muhamed Ali I would say Punk music shook up the world.
Obviously it's all about taste although Anarchy was a bit of a play on theme, let us not forget there was a big following of disgruntled miserable youngsters who wanted to make a stamp which Punk music and especially the Pistols helped them in doing.

Still punk as fuck after all these years...there is more to punk then the usual pistols/ramones/stranglers etc. cant beat a bit of Crass and cant beat a bit of Peter and the test tube babies and cant beat a bit of minor threat and all in between...theres a lot more to punk then 1234 and swearing!!

Nice one. I was just going to put in a good word for the Damned.
As a confirmed headbanger in the late '70s, The Damned were the acceptable face of punk to me.
I was a massive Motorhead fan (as was Algy Ward). and we had this cross over thing going on with The Damned's crowd which didn't happen too much with Punk/Metal at that time.
Shame that Tank were a bit shit really...

I think a bit of context is called for here. Watch this little bit of Top of the pops. The chart countdown from number six to number one before the actual song puts a lot into focus for an East End kid who was 13 years old and already told by his teachers he'd never add up to shit.
